Brush Fire; INC#1043; 03:00PM; WB 118 Fwy East of Rocky Peak Rd; https://bit.ly/3suqI6D; Santa Susana Pass; PRELIM: LAFD responding by ground and air in Automatic Aid with the Ventura County (VCFD) and Los Angeles County (LACoFD) Fire Departments to approximately 2 acres grass and brush and grass burning adjacent to the westbound lanes (north of) of the Ronald Reagan (SR-118) Freeway east of Rocky Peak Road. The fire appears to be entirely within LACoFD jurisdiction, in a Mutual Threat Zone at the border of all three agencies jurisdiction. No wind. No structure threat. Little likelihood of the fire threatening the City of Los Angeles. The conscious and alert male worker was determined to have no imminently life threatening injuries, and had been assisted by firefighters, with the use of a harness, in safely ascending a fire department ladder to ground level. Vehicle Fire 08/17/2021 INC#1061

Vehicle Fire; INC#1061; 02:38PM; 6638 N Elmer Av; https://bit.ly/3yYHUUe; North Hollywood; PRELIM: First arriving LAFD crews have contained and are continuing their efforts to fully extinguish a burning City of Los Angeles trash truck in a residential alley. Flames from the well-involved vehicle (and still on-board residential refuse) were prevented from damaging nearby homes, but did damage an adjacent power pole. The vehicle operator escaped unharmed. Firefighters will allow Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) now leaking from a tank aboard the vehicle, to continue to burn in a safe and controlled manner until the fuel is exhausted. There is no off-site or escalating hazard. Fire cause under investigation. Update #60thStreetFire Greater Alarm Civilian Fatality Structure Fire; INC#1098; 05:20PM; 1001 E 60th St; https://bit.ly/3jX1ydi; Florence; The remains of one adult male civilian have been discovered by LAFD Firefighters during their rigorous search of the heavily damaged fire building. Witnesses describe the man as one of two employees who ran into the burning building prior to LAFD arrival, the other person having quickly returned to outdoor safety, uninjured. No other civilian injuries or missing persons have been reported. The one injured LAFD firefighter, injured in a 4 foot fall from a ladder, is receiving medical attention for his non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital. Firefighters will remain at scene this evening to overhaul smoldering debris, physically assist the Coroner's staff, and support the still active fire cause investigation by LAFD Investigators. A positive identification of the deceased man, as well as the cause, time and manner of his death, will be determined by the Coroner.
