L.A. Leaders Expand Christmas Tree Recycling Program to Enhance Public Safety

With a spate of recent home fires involving Christmas trees - including one that recently hospitalized three firefighters, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Fire Chief Ralph M. Terrazas have announced an important enhancement to the City's recycling program for natural Christmas trees.
 
The Mayor and Fire Chief are strongly urging City of Los Angeles residents to get the trees out of their homes before tragedy occurs. 
 
Along with free curbside recycling that continues on normal trash collection days across the City, the Los Angeles Fire Department and Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation have partnered in the creation of special collection sites that will remain in service at 13 select Neighborhood Fire Stations:
