Our Ultrapol End & Edge Polisher has been extensively used in several projects for polishing edges and surfaces of photonic and optical devices before bonding with optical fiber. This polisher allows the fabrication of devices with very sharp edges and flat surface (about .1µm roughness depending on the material), reducing considerably losses during coupling between devices and optical fibers. It also includes an advance angular control system allowing a .03º angle accuracy polishing. For maximized output, the use of 8 inch diameter diamond lapping films which are easily changed is strongly recommended.
