Reports of a person possibly trapped led to the Incident Commander initiating the "rescue mode" of operation. Firefighters conducted a search while fire attack continued to address the fire. No victims were located. When firefighters arrived on scene, they had fire showing from one side of an approximately 50' x 25' building (with at least four units). The incident commander requested LAFD Arson Section for the investigation. The original 9-1-1 call was received at 3:36AM. The patient was out of the trench upon LAFD arrival and was rapidly transported in unknown condition. The affiliation of the worker (whether private or government worker) is unknown at this time. Update Structure Fire - North Hollywood 12/21/2020 INC#1827

Update Structure Fire - North Hollywood; INC#1827; 11:03PM; 5400 N Tujunga Av; https://bit.ly/3nGziw4; North Hollywood; KNOCKDOWN: 111 firefighters in one hour and 56 minutes with no injuries reported. Fire destroyed two buildings, housing three businesses, while firefighters successfully defended a 3rd building under construction (framing stage). While this incident was reported as an outside fire extending into a building, LAFD Arson Section is on scene conducting the cause investigation. A residential high-rise building across from the fire was impacted by smoke blanketing the area but there were no medical complaints. Firefighters ensured the building was ventilated and cleared all alarms. The overhaul operation will last at least two hours and the investigation will likely resume in the morning, consequently the area will remain closed for an undetermined period of time. Update Structure Fire; INC#1827; 10:35PM; 5400 N Tujunga Av; https://bit.ly/3nGziw4; North Hollywood; Firefighters are making good progress with the bulk of the fire extinguished. They continue to hit remaining hot spots. Firefighters are also in the high rise residential building on the north side of the fire due to smoke entering the structure. The building was not at risk of fire exposure, only residual smoke which blanketed the area. There are no medical complaints from any residents at this time. The LAFD Robotic Solutions 3 (RS3) firefighting vehicle is also on scene, to be used as most appropriate based on the incident needs. Update Structure Fire - North Hollywood 12/21/2020 INC#1827

Update Structure Fire - North Hollywood; INC#1827; 09:50PM; 5400 N Tujunga Av; https://bit.ly/3nGziw4; North Hollywood; With 109 firefighters assigned to this incident, it is now a Major Emergency. The roof collapsed on the larger commercial building and firefighters are continuing to target the blaze with master streams. There is a 3rd commercial building, in the framing stage, also exposed to the fire and crews are working to defend it as well as a yard of work vehicles. There are downed power lines which LADWP are working to de-energize to mitigate the hazard. PIO Firefighter David Ortiz will be on scene shortly to assist the media.
