Update Structure Fire; INC#0703; 01:09PM; 100 E 79th St; https://bit.ly/38sqhBV; Florence; While 83 firefighters were assigned to the incident due to the additional resources requested, the first arriving assignment achieved a knockdown of the fire in 18 minutes. The fire was contained to the exterior and prevented from extending into the main structure. An additional outside fire extended into a converted, detached garage which firefighters quickly extinguished. There are no injuries reported. The building type updated to a two story, four-plex had heavy fire in one unit on the 2nd floor. The fire extended into the attic and caused partial roof collapse over the fire unit prior to knockdown. Firefighters conducted both a primary and secondary search of the unit and found no occupants. Update Fire Fatality - Structure Fire 11/08/2020 INC#0282

Update Fire Fatality - Structure Fire; INC#0282; 06:55AM; 500 W 157th St; https://bit.ly/2U5o86R; Harbor Gateway; While firefighters were conducting an aggressive interior fire attack, crews simultaneously performed a search to determine if any victims were trapped in the structure as reported. Sadly, firefighters located a deceased person in one of the rooms. Both LAFD Arson Section and LAPD are responding for the investigation per protocol for a fatality. LAFD PIO Firefighter David Ortiz is enroute to the incident for media availability. The identity and cause of death of the victim will be handled by LA County Coroner. Age/gender of the victim is undetermined at this time. The 28 firefighters assigned to the incident extinguished the fire in 21 minutes with no additional injuries reported.
