Flooding 08/23/2020 INC#0095

Flooding; INC#0095; 01:37AM; 10630 W Sunset Bl; https://bit.ly/3glQd2o; Westwood; LAFD preceded LADWP (now on scene) to a large subterranean water line break, with rising floodwater toppling two trees and beginning to enter UCLA property to the south, as well as one residential property on the north side of Sunset Boulevard. Though Pauley Pavilion is nearby, water has not yet entered that facility, which is being protected by UCLA staff with sandbags. The floodwater is not threatening student housing, but may impact other campus facilities in the immediate area only. There is no imminent life hazard and no call for evacuation. The toppled trees and floodwater have led to the full closure of Sunset Boulevard between Veteran Avenue and Hilgard Avenue for an unknown duration. Motorists should avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Bus riders should Follow @MetroLAAlerts on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/MetroLAAlerts ) to determine any service impact. Motorists are encouraged to monitor traffic reports on news radio.
