One patient is in serious condition and will require a low-angle rope rescue using a litter basket to safely bring the patient back up to the road. Two additional patients have only minor injuries. The fire was out upon arrival but crews are treating and transporting two adult males: 78yo in serious condition and 45yo in fair, both with burn injuries (no respiratory involvement). Any questions concerning the boat or the circumstances are referred to LA Port Police. The original 9-1-1 call received at 12:55PM. Additional engines were required due to lack of water supply near the freeway. No additional resources are expected to be required. Follow CHP Log#1611 for updates on NB101 traffic. Firefighters extinguished the fire but will remain on scene approximately an hour for the mop up operation. Grass Fire; INC#0572; 10:33AM; SB 5 Fwy x Tuxford St On-Ramp; https://bit.ly/2BTHVkc; Sun Valley; Forward progress of a vegetation fire alongside the southbound lanes of the Golden State (I-5) Freeway near Tuxford Street has been stopped by LAFD ground crews at 1 (one) acre. No injury. No structure threat. We ask motorists to use caution as firefighters will continue to work on the freeway's right shoulder for at least the next hour in mopping up hot spots and smoldering debris. The Tuxford Street on-ramp to SB 5 Fwy will remain closed until LAFD operations are complete.
