Industrial Accident; INC#0378; 08:42AM; 14241 W Ventura Bl; http://bit.ly/35ki5Pt; Sherman Oaks; A construction accident reportedly trapped one person under lumber for several minutes while co-workers worked to free the person from their location. Those workers initiated CPR, following instructions from an LAFD 9-1-1 dispatcher over the phone. Firefighter/paramedics arrived, took over CPR, and initiated advanced life support. The patient was transported to a local trauma center in grave condition. Mayor's Crisis Response Team responding to assist/support workers during this crisis. No road closures. Nothing further. Structure Fire; INC#0157; 05:19AM; 922 E 87th Pl; http://bit.ly/37qs7k0; Green Meadows; The first 26 firefighters extinguished the flames they found devouring a vacant single-family home in 24 minutes. Firefighters had to make access to the crawl space burning under the floor before continuing their initial interior attack and navigated their equipment around a long trench down one side of the home. Primary and secondary search of the structure revealed no patients inside. No reported injuries. Three 18-year-old males from the auto, all with critical injuries, were transported to local trauma centers. Nothing further. Crews will continue to work in the area, mopping up hot spots and fortifying containment lines. No reported injuries. Update Knockdown Structure Fire; INC#1165; 04:25PM; 8701 N San Fernando Rd; http://bit.ly/35foP14; Sun Valley; First arriving 30 Los Angeles Firefighters took just 24 minutes to extinguish all active flame within "Sun Valley Paper Stock", a one-story 300' x 100' paper products recycling facility. There were no injuries. LAFD crews will utilize one or more on-site skiploaders operated by facility staff to move and deeply soak tons of still smoldering debris, and prevent re-ignition. ADVISORY; 09:30AM; LAFD Community Training in Hollywood Hills to *Simulate* Emergency Evacuation; https://www.lafd.org/news/lafd-community-training-hollywood-hills-simulate-emergency-evacuation; Hollywood Hills; To enhance community safety, the Los Angeles Fire Department will be performing a public training exercise in the Hollywood Hills this morning, November 16, 2019. The training event will simulate a coordinated evacuation of three specific neighborhoods - similar to what might happen if there was a real wildfire or other emergency in the future. This community exercise will also test neighborhood notifications, including a special awareness text message sent to all wireless phones in the immediate area at approximately 10:00 AM. Though some beyond the target area may receive an awareness message, this simulated and voluntary evacuation training exercise includes only select streets in the following City of Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Districts: Los Feliz Neighborhood Council, Hollywood United Neighborhood Council and Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council. The training event will be followed by a free Community Resource Fair to which all are welcome, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, 1760 North Gower Street, that begins at 11:30 AM.
