Update Structure Fire; INC#0465; 09:55AM; 4760 W Melrose Av; http://bit.ly/2BLyy2j; East Hollywood; KNOCKDOWN: 81 FF in 1hr 22 mins. After an initial offensive attack and finding fire on both floors and through the roof, the structural integrity of the building was compromised and the incident transitioned to a defensive operation. Firefighters used hand lines from the exterior and adjacent roof in addition to ladder pipes to fully extinguish the fire. LAFD Arson is on scene for the investigation. Tank Truck Fire; INC#0349; 06:42AM; Wb 101 Fy; http://bit.ly/2MPiBi2; Woodland Hills; Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in the dual tires (only) of a tanker carrying hot asphalt. While there was a small breach to the exterior of the tanker, the interior lining is fully intact and preventing any spills. Two lanes of the WB101 are now re-opened though traffic will remain slowed while the CHP arranges for the tanker to be removed from the freeway. No injuries reported. Structure Fire; INC#1101; 05:02PM; 4960 N Bascule Av; http://bit.ly/2Pkv7HN; Woodland Hills; Firefighters were careful to coordinate timing between roof companies and interior fire attack companies during the initial attack on an attic fire in a 3,054 sq-ft two-story vacant single-family home. On the roof above, firefighters cut holes to ventilate the smoke and heat as crews below opened the ceiling to apply water to the attic fire from inside the house. 28 firefighters quickly extinguished the flames in 14 minutes from the initial alarm. The horses appear to be deceased on scene. The driver appears to have fled the scene on foot. Nothing further. Update Brush Fire; INC#1298; 06:29PM; 5400 N Griffith Park Dr; http://bit.ly/2oDD5As; Griffith Park; Ground and air crews comprised of 53 firefighters have knocked down the flames of an approximately one-acre vegetation fire that was moving slowly uphill in light to medium brush, with little to no wind. No reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
