Update Rescue 04/19/2019 INC#1230

Update Rescue; INC#1230; 06:30PM; 12567 W Branford St; http://bit.ly/2Xq9d6X; Pacoima; In an attempt to evade mining staff and LAPD, 1 adult female became stranded in 150 feet down into the excavation of a strip mining operation. Patient was perched on a ledge where she could not self-extricate. LAPD and mining staff (with LAFD personnel) took vehicles down a road to the bottom of the excavation. (Air Ops and USAR companies were on standby if necessary, but later released.) Crews assisted patient down from her position on foot and into a vehicle. They were able to drive her out the rest of the way. No injuries. No transport. Update Structure Fire KNOCKDOWN 04/18/2019 INC#1567

Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1567; 08:54PM; 17701 W Ventura Bl; http://bit.ly/2KO1Ogf; Encino; 32 firefighters extinguished a fire in a 1-story strip mall in 10 minutes. Firefighters performed a coordinated interior fire attack with rooftop ventilation. When attempting to shut off utilities, firefighters encountered a dog behind the unit. The dog was placed into the care of the business owner (and dog owner) and the firefighters were able to turn off the utilities safely. Fire got into the walls, but not into adjacent units. Some smoke damage in adjacent units. No reported injuries. The cause is still under investigation.
