COVID-19 TESTING INFORMATION

**UPDATED** COVID-19 TESTING FOR LAFD MEMBERS AND “AT RISK” FAMILY

The Department will continue to provide COVID-19 testing for all LAFD members as well as at risk family members who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 illness.  Testing will be available beginning Monday, March 30, 2020 from 09:00 to 12:00 hours and continue until further notice.  The testing site is located in the parking lot adjacent to Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center (see map).

AT RISK” FAMILY MEMBERS

At risk family members are required to register at COVID-19 Screening Sign-up Sheet.  Testing should be requested if members or at risk family members exhibit any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever above 100.0° F
  • Cough
  • Sore Throat
  • Shortness of Breath

Members of the population who are at risk for becoming severely ill from COVID-19 have been identified by CDC (CDC.gov) to include:

  • 65 years and older
  • Underlying medical condition(s)
  • Pregnancy

LAFD MEMBERS

LAFD Members on duty SHALL secure approval from their chain of command AND have registered via the link prior to arrival.

The test results require a waiting period of 2 to 7 days.  During this period, because you have reported yourself as symptomatic, you will not be able to work.

There are a few members identified by the Department with unusual circumstances who have been detailed to their residence.  All other members will be initially placed off duty SK while awaiting both their test results and resolution of symptoms

If these symptoms develop, members are directed to register at COVID-19 Screening Sign-up Sheet as soon as possible.  The following information will need to be provided:

  • Email Address
  • Explanation of Symptoms
  • Employee Identification Number (EID)
  • Contact Phone Number

Commanders and supervisors are directed to contact off duty members, including those off SK to inform them of the availability of COVID-19 testing.
