Safest Driver 2019

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Chief Ralph Terrazas will join Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Jeff Gorell to award the first prize in the “LA’s Safest Driver” contest. The winner, Steven King, who works at the University of California, is named the “Safest Driver” in the Youth category.

Since the contest began on June 3rd, more than 11,100 drivers have participated and about six million miles have been logged. The purpose of the contest is to raise awareness and educate the public about safe driving behaviors to reduce traffic accidents and related fatalities. It’s sponsored by the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) and Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT). A total of $70,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of five major categories at the end of the contest on Friday, July 26th.
