The Central Bureau encompasses Downtown Los Angeles and the surrounding communities. Deputy Chief Phillip T. Fligiel is the Central Bureau Commander, and manages the day-to-day operations of 22 fire stations and 645 personnel in Battalions 1, 2, and 11.

LOS ANGELES - On September 3, 2019, during a meeting of the Los Angeles Fire Commission, the executive leadership of the Los Angeles Fire Department formally recognized a pair of veteran LAFD Firefighter/Paramedics for saving the life of a 1 year-old boy who was choking on a rubber ball.

LOS ANGELES - Since a fast-moving wildfire threatened homes in Eagle Rock and Glendale last week, Los Angeles Fire Department Investigators have relentlessly pursued those who caused the blaze they determined to have been an intentional act. Today, those suspects are in custody.
