KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0522; 10:18AM; 229 E 66th St; https://bit.ly/4acDn3m; #Florence; The first 26 LAFD firefighters extinguished the one-story duplex attic fire in 26 minutes, protecting the living quarters below with a coordinated effort of inside salvage work (move/cover belongings to protect from water damage), rooftop ventilation, and interior fire attack. There were no reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0423; 09:09AM; 1111 W 6th St; https://bit.ly/48F4RxO; #Westlake; Firefighters responded to a vacant 41,840 square-foot four-story commercial structure built in 1967 to find smoke showing from the third floor (the site of a previous burn). Firefighters ascended ladders to the roof and balconies, and extended hose lines to the third floor via interior stairwells, despite thick smoke and hazards such as open elevator shafts. Crews discovered contents burning on the third floor and quickly extinguished the flames. Ultimately it took 36 firefighters 20 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. Crews will remain on scene to evacuate the heavy smoke from the building using blowers. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 03/28/2024 INC#1611

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1611; 10:47PM; 13574 W Gager St; https://bit.ly/3TSw37k; #Pacoima; Firefighters responded to find heavy fire showing from a detached garage in the rear of a residential property. Flames were already shooting out through the roof, causing crews to fight the fire from the ground only. Firefighters deployed hose lines and used forcible entry techniques to open up the front of the garage, gaining access for hose streams. It took 32 firefighter 20 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. One 39-year old female (special needs) was found with burn injuries, treated by firefighter/paramedics, and transported to an area hospital (unknown condition/circumstances). During an interior search of the structure, sadly, firefighters found one person deceased (age/gender/circumstances unknown). LAFD's Fire Investigators are responding to investigate this fatality fire and attempt to identify a cause. Hiker Rescue; INC#0784; 12:36PM; Haines Canyon Ave; https://bit.ly/49gXCeK; #Tujunga; Firefighters located a 19-year-old male in a remote area, with an arm injury sustained during cycling. Ground crews were unable to bring apparatus to the patient's location, therefore LAFD Air Operations utilized a hoist operation. A rescuer was lowered down to the patient to assess, treat, and prepare the patient for a hoist. LAFD Air Operations hoisted and transported the patient by air to a local hospital. Complete - River Rescue; INC#1201; 05:38PM; Los Angeles River East of Laurel Canyon Blvd; https://maps.app.goo.gl/YVgEchDCDax5MoUWA; #StudioCity; After being thrown a flotation device and briefly holding onto the lower portion of a 24' wooden ladder lowered by the first arriving LAFD crew along the vertical concrete wall of the Los Angeles River, the 35-year-old woman was again swept a short distance downstream by the 15 mile-per-hour flow of stormwater, before being rescued by an LAFD Rescue Helicopter crew using a hoist cable and harness. She and her LAFD rescuer have been safely hoisted aboard the aircraft where she will receive continuous in-flight care for minor injuries, including hypothermia, during direct helicopter transport to an area hospital. River Rescue; INC#1201; 05:03PM; Los Angeles River x Laurel Canyon Blvd; https://maps.app.goo.gl/YVgEchDCDax5MoUWA; #StudioCity; PRELIM: LAFD ground and air response, following a sudden rainstorm, to an adult female first discovered in the concrete-lined Los Angeles River flood control channel near Whitsett Avenue "less than knee depth" water that was moving at approximately 15 miles-per-hour.
