KNOCKDOWN Outside Fire; INC#1028; 04:11PM; 1420 N Alameda St; https://bit.ly/3iZbSli; Wilmington; LAFD, with automatic aid from LA County FD, battled a blaze at an outside yard containing shipping containers, tires, and other stored items. Eighty-eight LAFD firefighters used ladder pipes and large hand lines to extinguish the fire in 93 minutes. Explosions heard early in the incident prompted a HazMat investigation, but the those loud noises turned out to be tires exploding, rather than something more dangerous or toxic. Welding materials were found on scene, but all canisters were in tact and did not contribute to the fire. The fire was contained to the yard only, and no structures were threatened. No reported injuries. CONTAINED Rubbish Fire; INC#0528; 11:12AM; 841 S Mission Rd; https://bit.ly/3vcCkfZ; Boyle Heights; Twenty-eight firefighters extinguished the flames in 78 minutes, confining the fire to one-quarter acre and at least one vehicle inside the city yard adjacent to the vegetation. Several fire engines worked together to bring water to the fire's location, which had no hydrant or water source nearby. Firefighters extinguished the auto fire and constructed containment lines around the vegetation. No reported injuries. Water supply has been a challenge for firefighters. Additional engines added to support operations to provide water to the fire. No structures threatened. It is presently unclear whether the fire started near wires down outside the structure or a problem inside the structure contributed to the wires down outside. No reported injuries.
