Safe Surrender; INC#1440; 07:40AM; 2401 W Pico Bl; http://bit.ly/2OwdNiM; Pico-Union; At 7:36PM on October 8, 2019 a 21F brought her newborn infant to Fire Station 13 to surrender the child. Firefighters took custody of the baby and performed a patient assessment, finding it in good health. The child was then transported to the hospital. The Safe Surrender law took effect in Jan 2001. The law's intent is to save lives of newborn infants at risk of abandonment by encouraging parents or persons with lawful custody to safely surrender the infant within 72 hours of birth, with no questions asked.
