The Central Bureau encompasses Downtown Los Angeles and the surrounding communities. Deputy Chief Phillip T. Fligiel is the Central Bureau Commander, and manages the day-to-day operations of 22 fire stations and 645 personnel in Battalions 1, 2, and 11.

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an explosion and fire on February 29, 2020 at 743 South Kohler Street in the Central Industrial District of downtown, where three men were injured, two critically.
