Structure Fire; 02:35PM; 14129 W Hatteras St; https://goo.gl/maps/3VD995juh882; Van Nuys; DELAYED ALERT: 42 firefighters took only 12 minutes to fully extinguish a fire in the living room of a 1 story, single family dwelling. There were no injuries. The cause is "Electrical" malfunction which sparked the Christmas Tree, causing extensive damage to the living room and smoke damage throughout the home. Reports indicate a bystander (NFD) used a garden hose through the front window prior to LAFD arrival which helped keep the fire from spreading. There were no functioning smoke alarms in the home.
