Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0252; 05:35AM; 501 E 7th St; https://bit.ly/48IdDuA; #Downtown; Thanks to prompt LAFD notification by the building's fire alarm monitoring service, Los Angeles Firefighters arrived quickly at a 6 story center-hallway style apartment building to find fire within one third floor unit. The first arriving 30 LAFD personnel took just 17 minutes (5:52 AM) to access, confine and fully extinguish the flames, holding the blaze within the apartment of origin. The 69 year-old male resident of the involved unit sustained severe (second-degree) burn injury to 30% of his body, and has been taken by LAFD Paramedics to a regional burn care facility in critical condition. No other injuries have been reported. The Los Angeles Fire Department reminds local residents that not all building fire alarm systems are monitored. Anyone who witnesses evidence of fire, or a ringing fire alarm, should act promptly to escape harm, and never hesitate to call 9-1-1 immediately to assure the fire department is aware and responding. The cause of this fire remains under active investigation.; FS 9; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; AR1 AR22 AR33 AR34 BC1 BC11 BC2 BC5 CM20 CM22 E14 E201 E202 E209 E210 E27 E4 E458 E9 E95 EM1 HR3 RA9 RA900 SQ21 SQ95 T1 T10 T2 T9 UR3 UR88; CH7; 12 14; Brian Humphrey
