Update Hazardous Materials Spill Corrections - 04/30/2021 INC#0863

Update Corrections - Hazardous Materials Spill; INC#0863; 05:43PM; Harry Bridges Blvd x NB 110 Freeway on-ramp; https://bit.ly/3gQQFcU; Wilmington; *Corrections* 54 LAFD Firefighters, including LAFD HazMat experts have largely concluded assisting a private contractor in offloading a big rig *single tank trailer* (vehicle = tractor and only 1 trailer, there was no 2nd trailer) carrying a total load of *8,200* gallons diesel fuel cargo when the tractor and *single trailer* overturned. In now measuring the (6,400 gallons of) diesel fuel that has been safely transferred from the overturned tank trailer to a private contractor's clean-up tank truck, LAFD estimates that as many as 1,800 gallons of diesel motor fuel had leaked from the truck, with much entering the local storm drain system prior to LAFD arrival. LAFD continues to work with local, regional, State and Federal environmental agencies at and near the scene, who will be taking over incident management and coordinating remediation of the spill. Though the big rig driver was uninjured in the incident, one Caltrans employee and one LAFD Firefighter involved in the prolonged hot-weather response experienced non-life threatening illness, and were taken to an area hospital for further evaluation.
