Two adult male construction workers were involved in an unspecified purpose trenching project in the side yard of a single family home, when the wall of a 4' deep trench that had "makeshift shoring" gave way, including soil and a concrete slab from a nearby sidewalk. One of the men escaped the trench with a leg injury prior to LAFD arrival, and is now being evaluated by paramedics. His conscious and alert co-worker remains in the trench, his leg(s) trapped by the aforementioned soil and concrete.
