Update Traffic Collision; 03:26PM; 17300 Victory Bl; internal:/; #LakeBalboa; Two vehicle (both compact SUV) collision, with one into light standard, and then toppling tree on northwest corner of Victory Bl/Louise Av, instantly trapping sole adult male (driver) occupant before engine compartment erupted in flames; Thanks to the quick response of an LAFD crew from the nearest fire station, potentially lethal flames were extinguished before they could enter the passenger compartment and harm the man, who was quickly extricated and transported to an area trauma center in critical condition; The adult female driver of the other SUV also was critically injured, but not trapped, and her vehicle had no fire; Her two slightly injured passengers accompanied her to the hospital for further evaluation; The proper use of seatbelts and the activation of supplemental restraint systems, including airbags, is attributed with preventing more serious or fatal injury; Media Inquiries: LAPD Valley Traffic, Incident #2518; Dispatched Units: E100 RA100 E293 T93 E83 RA83 E93 HR3 EM15 BC10 UR88 RA93; - Brian Humphrey

The building was built in 1977 (32,515 sq ft) with front section one story and rear section has a mezzanine where the fire was centered. Firefighters had to force entry into numerous individual storage lockers in order to access fire. No injuries reported.
