Ninety LAFD Firefighters took 1 hour and 19 minutes in largely defensive operations to access, confine and fully extinguish heavy fire within. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1188; 03:41PM; 1150 E 105th St; https://bit.ly/3TznE8z; #GreenMeadows; The first 16 firefighters arrived, and deployed hose lines and made access to the one-story home, making an aggressive interior fire attack to contain the fire to the room-of-origin, and extinguish the flames in 13 minutes. No other structures damaged. No reported injuries. Responders arrived to find a large portion of a hillside had slid down toward at least three homes. Several people have been evacuated from at least one of the homes. A primary search of the homes revealed no patients, but a more thorough (secondary) search will be conducted after daybreak. Department of Building and Safety is responding to assess the structures and hillsides. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 03/12/2024 INC#0939

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0939; 02:27PM; 2411 S Alma St; https://bit.ly/3Ti6Gdk; #SanPedro; Firefighters arrived to find a 1,946 sq-ft single-story home (built in 1919) with smoke showing from the attic vents. Firefighters discovered a fire, which appeared to have started in the kitchen near cooking equipment, and traveled through a concealed space and into the attic. Crews ascended ladders to the roof to ventilate from above, as other crews accessed the attic with hose lines through the ceiling from inside. It took 32 firefighters 22 minutes to extinguish the attic fire. Firefighters rescued two dogs while performing an interior search. Functional smoke alarms alerted both residents promptly, and the 92-year-old female and 90-year-old male were able to safely escape. One of the occupants of the home (90-M) was assessed by paramedics out of an abundance of caution, and found to be in good condition (no hospital transport or further care needed). Knockdown - Structure Fire; INC#1433; 10:15PM; 524 E 33rd St; https://bit.ly/48Nd3eC; #HistoricSouthCentral; 44 LAFD Firefighters took just 17 minutes to access, confine and extinguish fire in the rear corner and attic of a 1,986 square foot one-story home (built 1906), preventing fire spread to an adjacent structure. Six civilians who were in our near the home at the time of the fire are being evaluated for non-specific complaints, including possible smoke exposure. Helicopter Hoist Rescue 03/10/2024 INC#0442

Helicopter Hoist Rescue; INC#0442; 09:42AM; Haines Canyon Mountainway; https://bit.ly/3wQ51o4; #Tujunga; LAFD ground and air response to the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, for a 40 year-old male mountain bicyclist injured in a fall. A hovering LAFD Rescue Helicopter was able to find the patient, and lowered a Flight Paramedic to evaluate and medically stabilize the patient, who sustained a back injury.
