Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1532; 10:28PM; 831 S Westlake Av; http://bit.ly/2J5BkUE; Westlake; Firefighters arrived to find a two-story living space (structure) in the rear of a multi-family residence, with fire through the roof. LAFD employed defensive tactics at first, drowning the fire from the outside. By the time the flames were knocked back enough to enter the structure, the integrity of the roof and second floor were in question, making this a more extended operation to finish off the flames above the ground floor. 53 firefighters extinguished the fire in 47 minutes and will remain on scene for an extended overhaul of the structure.
