Update Brush Fire #BarhamFire 11/11/2019 INC#0845

Update Brush Fire #BarhamFire; INC#0845; 04:45PM; 3694 N Barham Bl; http://bit.ly/32yNGv0; Hollywood Hills; The fire is now at 95% containment around the 80-acre area of torched earth. The remaining 5% around the perimeter is inaccessible due to treacherous terrain, but the burn area has undergone extensive mop up and crews will pick up equipment this afternoon, and only a patrol unit will remain on fire watch throughout the night. The final lane closures will be removed as fire department equipment and apparatus depart and Forest Lawn Dr can be used going both directions, once again. We thank the community for heeding the road closures and driving safe while in the vicinity of emergency personnel. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation. The following will list all units that responded to the fire over the past 48 hours; FS 76; Batt 5; West Bureau; Council District 4; AR2 BC1 BC10 BC11 BC13 BC14 BC15 BC18 BC5 CE59 CE83 CM42 CM51 CS208 E1 E10 E102 E105 E108 E11 E12 E13 E15 E16 E17 E2 E20 E209 E21 E211 E26 E260 E27 E278 E29 E290 E3 E33 E35 E36 E37 E38 E39 E40 E41 E44 E48 E49 E5 E52 E55 E56 E59 E6 E60 E61 E63 E64 E66 E67 E68 E69 E71 E73 E75 E76 E79 E8136 E8137 E8138 E8139 E8140 E82 E85 E86 E90 E93 E94 E95 E97 EM11 EM14 EM9 H1 H2 H4 H5 H735 HA1 HA2 HA4 HA5 PI3 RA100 RA104 RA14 RA17 RA27 RA6 RA60 RA76 RA90 RA97 SU1 T11 T60 T78 T90 UA1; CH7; 12 16; -Nicholas Prange

Update Brush Fire CONTAINED 11/11/2019 INC#0050

Update CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#0050; 11:30AM; 11798 W Foothill Bl; http://bit.ly/2N7TAiX; Hansen Dam; Firefighters responded just before 1:00 AM to a reported fire in a remote area of vegetation near the Hansen Dam. It originated in an area that fire apparatus could not access and was a long journey through heavy brush by foot. First-on-scene officers made a risk-versus-gain assessment and wisely decided that, with the increased humidity (including fog, which precluded air support) and little-to-no wind, in an area where no structures would be threatened, to leave Park Rangers to continue monitoring the situation overnight, with plans for LAFD to return in the morning when air/ground visibility and flight conditions improved. At first light, firefighters returned to find the fire had very slowly grown to 1-1/2 acres (as expected). LACoFD lent a "hand" with two of their hand crews. LAFD firefighters extended progressive hose lines around both sides of the fire, as helicopters made drops from the air. An LAFD Dozer strike team cut line ahead of the "hot flank" of the fire, which also created a fire road for apparatus to access the area. The fire is out after consuming approximately 3 acres and crews will stay on scene 3-4 hours to mop up the hot spots in the burn footprint. The cause of the fire is under active investigation; FS 98; Batt 12; Valley Bureau; Council District 7; AR1 AR2 BC12 DT1 DZ12 E24 E290 E298 E75 E77 E8136 E8140 E90 E98 H1 H4 H5 HA1 HA4 HA5 HE1 RA98 T90 T98 TP2 WT77; CH8; 17; -Nicholas Prange

Update Structure Fire KNOCKDOWN 11/11/2019 INC#0578

Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0578; 11:03AM; 351 N Cornwell St; http://bit.ly/2NAMpPO; Boyle Heights; The first 32 firefighters skillfully defeated the fireball that was consuming a structure (50' x 50' living space) in the rear of the property in just 15 minutes. Firefighters worked from the outside in, knocking down the flames from the yard, while transitioning smoothly to an interior attack and simultaneous interior search for potential victims. Primary and secondary (a double-check with fresh eyes) searches revealed no victims inside. No reported injuries. The cause of the blaze is undetermined; FS 2; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; BC11 BC2 E16 E201 E202 E25 E4 EM1 RA2 RA25 RA804 SQ21 T1 T2; CH7; 13; -Nicholas Prange

Brush Fire; INC#0050; 12:54AM; 11798 W Foothill Bl; http://bit.ly/2N7TAiX; Hansen Dam; Firefighters are unable to access a very remote area of the Hansen Dam Recreation Area which has a slow moving vegetation fire. Low clouds/fog conditions preclude an air attack. Early morning moisture and no wind are providing for extremely slow spread with no structures threatened. Firefighters will respond again at first light to reassess. Unknown cause. Updates will be provided at the earliest discovery of reliable information; FS 98; Batt 12; Valley Bureau; Council District 7; -Nicholas Prange

Update Brush Fire #BarhamFire 11/10/2019 INC#0845

Update Brush Fire #BarhamFire; INC#0845; 07:00PM; 3694 N Barham Blvd; http://bit.ly/32yNGv0; Hollywood Hills; Crews were able to make strong progress today, with the weather (mainly wind) playing nice on this November Sunday. Firefighters took advantage of the conditions and worked hard throughout the day to make headway toward the incident objectives. The Incident Command Staff had the opportunity to fly over the entire footprint of the fire, giving them the ability to get a more accurate survey. The burn footprint was found to be 80 acres in total, with containment around 80% of the perimeter. The work is not yet done, as firefighters will continue to work through the night and tomorrow. TUESDAY: Officials anticipate reducing the LAFD presence to a "patrol only" status, and re-opening Forest Lawn Dr ; FS 76; Batt 5; West Bureau; Council District 4; -Nicholas Prange

Update Brush Fire #BarhamFire 11/10/2019 INC#0845

Update Brush Fire #BarhamFire; INC#0845; 09:30AM; 3694 N Barham Bl; http://bit.ly/32yNGv0; Hollywood Hills; Air and ground crews worked throughout the night to stop all forward progress of the fire, keeping it within the control area - a strategically planned "box" on the map. Figures remain at 34 acres and 15% containment, and will be updated as a more accurate survey of the burn footprint is acquired. Smoke seen in the area is originating from smoldering objects inside of the containment area and is currently not a threat. Crews will be working throughout the day today, tomorrow, and possibly longer. The terrain is very steep and the mop up will be a slow methodical process to eliminate hot spots and smoldering debris. Water drops by air will continue to aid in completing this objective. No additional injuries have been reported (yesterday, one firefighter sustained non-life threatening injuries while working on the fire). The cause remains under active investigation. ROAD CLOSURES: Forest Lawn Dr remains closed between Barham and the Ventura Freeway. EVACUATIONS: There have been no formal evacuations. Any residents or employees who left the area did so voluntarily, by no order of the Fire Department. No structures damaged or threatened. No civilian injuries; FS 76; Batt 5; West Bureau; Council District 4; -Nicholas Prange
