Update Explosion; INC#0346; 08:20AM; 5640 N Farmdale Av; https://bit.ly/3Ehoa0Q; North Hollywood; The explosion occurred in a subterranean electrical vault located in the apartment building's garden space at the front (west side between the street and building) and directly adjacent to the 32,150 square-foot, 37-unit, 3 story apartment building comprised of 2 floors of apartments over parking. The forceful blast, heard over a wide area, as well as concrete debris from the electrical vault's lid, caused visible damage to the eve line of the structure, and broke multiple apartment windows. There was no fire, and no injuries have been reported. The City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (ETA 9:00-9:30 AM) will perform a detailed inspection to determine if the building remains safe for occupancy. This was determined to be an outside fire that extended into the vacant structure. Firefighters quickly addressed the exposed building and limited the fire to the eves. There are reports of two additional occupants who may have departed the scene prior but their locations are unknown at this time and crews continue to search the heavily packed residence.
