Fahrenheit 2017 – Honoring Ervin “Magic” Johnson

Sunday, March 26, 2017

Fahrenheit 2017, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation’s annual fundraiser event is set for May 7, 2017, at 5:00 PM at Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center.

This year the Foundation is proud to honor business mogul and Los Angeles Laker Legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson.  Magic is well-known for his winning ways on the court; however, his life’s work and dedication to underserved urban communities is having a most profound and positive impact in our City.
Founded in 2010 by a committed group of activists and business leaders, the Foundation serves to strengthen the overall preparedness and responsiveness of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Fahrenheit 2017 offers a rare opportunity to meet and interact with firefighters and paramedics from the LAFD. The public is welcome to join the Foundation for an up-close and personal encounter. Please join us for an exquisite dinner catered by Patina Catering, specialty bars, live entertainment, exciting LAFD exhibits, demonstrations and a silent auction.  More than 400 guests, including business and community leaders, elected officials, volunteers, friends, and family members are expected to attend this event.

The Foundation supports the LAFD in four major categories: Youth Programs, Equipment, Technology and Leadership.  Specifically, the Foundation has purchased Brush helmets, flashlights, IPads, hot sticks, extractors, and a Zodiac inflatable boat for swift water rescue.  They have also assisted in funding programs such as: LAFD Leadership Academy, Youth Fire Academies, Advance Provider Response Unit (APRU), and the Community Risk Reduction Unit (CRR).

A silent auction will be held as part of the evening festivities.  Items up for bid: Eight (8) day European cruise for two (2) (valued at $10,000), three (3) day Las Vegas Hotel stay, Grand Canyon trip for two (2), Paintball party, Golf session and brunch for two (2), various restaurant gift certificates, and many more.
In addition, the Foundation is raffling an Ultra Limited Firefighter Red Harley Davidson Motorcycle, which retails for $30,000.  It could be yours for just $100
The Raffle Rules are:
• Harley Davidson raffle tickets $100 each

This is an exciting event for a great cause.  Every year it has grown and raised valuable funds for the LAFD.  Fahrenheit 2017 is sure to be the most successful yet.  We look forward to seeing you there while we have an evening of celebration in honor of Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
