Firefighters arrived to find three vacant, single family dwellings (adjacent to each other) well involved in fire. Firefighters quickly initiated fire attack on all three structures, simultaneously and extinguished the fires with no injuries reported. Cause to be determined. Update #GettyFire Brush Fire; INC#0074; 02:15PM; Sb 405 Fy X Getty Center Dr; https://www.lafd.org/news/getty-fire; Los Angeles; As of 2:15PM on 10.29.19 The size of the fire remains at 656 acres and is now 15% contained. 12 homes have been destroyed and 5 homes damaged by the fire. No injuries or fatalities reported to civilians or firefighters. Updated road closure information: Westbound Sunset Blvd is closed from the 405 Fwy to Temescal Canyn (Eastbound traffic remains open). Northbound Sepulveda Blvd closed from Moraga Dr to Skirball. Southbound Sepulveda Blvd closed form Skirball to Sunset Blvd. Westwood and Palisades Rec Center remain open as 24hr evacuation centers for all residents. The most significant wind event over the past few years is expected to occur late tonight into Thursday. All residents within the affected areas must be Ready, Set, GO! due to the risk of resurgence cause by winds carrying embers into unburned areas. ALL AREAS that were in the Mandatory Evacuation (RED) zone remain under Mandatory Evacuation, and are off-limits, with NO public entry being permitted as Police Officers continue to protect those neighborhoods. Those who remain in the Evacuation Warning (YELLOW) zones (including the Mountain Gate Community which was repopulated last night) are reminded to review Ready, Set, Go! procedures at: https://www.lafd.org/ready-set-go. Firefighters continued to take advantage of the favorable weather conditions into today, working with aircraft to extinguish any flare ups and mop up hot spots. Current objectives include structure protection and building further containment lines before another forecasted Santa Ana Wind event begins tonight around 11:00PM (wind gusts of 30-50 mph are expected). The Westwood and Palisades Recreation Centers remain open 24 hours for any residents (small animals welcome). 8 residences were destroyed and 6 damaged by the fire.
