LAFD crews will continue to overhaul smoldering debris for at least the next hour. No injury. No structure threat or damage. Firefighters prevented extension of the fire into the adjacent commercial building (delivery vehicles backed up to a loading dock). Update Structure Fire; INC#0857; 04:16PM; 1835 W 48th St; https://bit.ly/2VY58ZI; Vermont Square; KNOCKDOWN: 33 firefighters extinguished the fire in 16 minutes. The fire was well developed within the attic upon LAFD arrival. Fire attack made an interior approach into the attic while roof division cut a ventilation hole. Additional firefighters conducted salvage operations to protect the belongings inside the home. All occupants were out of the structure and no injuries were reported. Crews are continuing to root out any hot spots remaining in the sub floor. The fire appears to have started at the detached garage with some extension to a single family dwelling through the sub floor. LAFD Arson Section is responding for the investigation.
