The fire is approximately 10 acres in size. Homeless are being evacuated south to the 101 Freeway. No reported injuries. No structures currently threatened. Update KNOCKDOWN Brush Fire; INC#0940; 01:26PM; 1842 W Yosemite Dr; http://bit.ly/2BLT4zH; Eagle Rock; 46 minutes after LAFD was notified of the brush fire, crews in Eagle Rock called a knockdown after a swift and aggressive attack on a fire with challenges, such as limited water access and low power lines. Aerial water drops aided in the extinguishment, as firefighters guarded the perimeter of the nearby Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School, who remained inside the building, safely sheltering in place (no evacuation necessary). Unknown cause/loss. Firefighters held containment lines with no spot fires escaping the perimeter, and lines were strengthened. Strong winds will continue through Friday, with low humidity and high temperatures. RED FLAG parking restrictions are in effect TODAY 10/24 for at least 24 hours and will be reevaluated based on weather conditions. Look for "Red Flag Days" signs to indicate areas that the "no parking" restrictions are in effect.
