Appliance Fire; INC#1166; 06:06PM; Terminal 5 - Los Angeles International Airport; http://bit.ly/2XMBbLe; LAX; Firefighters arrived quickly at the coffee shop near Gate 50 to find light smoke coming from a refrigerator and an apparent fire already extinguished within that appliance. There was no formal evacuation and no injury. The Fire Department is unaware of any impact on LAX operations. LAFD crews are using Fire Department portable ventilation fans to remove a light haze and slight smoke odor in the immediate area only. KNOCKDOWN Brush Fire; INC#0843; 02:44PM; 400 W Solano Av; http://bit.ly/2Bsfoyv; Elysian Park; 60 LAFD Firefighters responding by ground and air, and assisted by Park Rangers, took less than one-half hour to confine flames to one-quarter (0.25) acre of grass and brush near a previous burn. No structures were threatened and there were no injuries. Firefighters will remain at scene to thoroughly overhaul the fire, assuring complete extinguishment. Twelve mobility impaired residents of an adjacent residential care home threatened by flames upon LAFD arrival, were brought to safety and guarded by firefighters, until the flames - which were confined to the nearby building of fire origin, were fully extinguished. All of the evacuees were returned safely to the undamaged care home. One LAFD Firefighter sustained a non-life threatening shoulder injury during emergency operations, and has been taken to an area hospital for first care. Though the otherwise vacant (*corrected to*) 1,464 square-foot one-story home contained some cultivating equipment, there were no plants on the premises, and no residents displaced.
