Knockdown - #WindsorFire Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1221; 07:57PM; 4357 W Victoria Park Dr; https://bit.ly/3kH0Z7r; MidCity; 105 LAFD firefighters took just 54 minutes in a relentless offensive fire attack, to fully extinguish flames from this Greater Alarm fire that had extended from a well involved carport on LAFD arrival into both floors of a nearby vacant 4,062 square-foot 2-story *residential duplex*. The structure, built in 1923 was near, but NOT part of the historic Victoria Park neighborhood (sometimes called Victoria Circle - https://www.westadamsheritage.org/read/1327 ). One firefighter is currently being evaluated for a non-life threatening injury (laceration) sustained during the firefight, and it is not yet clear if s/he will require clinical care. No other injuries reported. Update Structure Fire; INC#0978; 05:40PM; 1537 W 8th St; https://bit.ly/2ZRFx5Y; Westlake; A summary (with some updates to previous alerts) of the buildings involved and the damage sustained: Original fire unit is a one story (tall) with attic craftsman style single family dwelling which sustained significant damage from a well involved attic fire. The "B side" exposure (west side) is a two story four plex (originally thought to be a center hall apartment building) in which firefighters defended all the living space of the building. The fire extended into a portion of the attic and eaves but the units themselves were saved from the fire. The third structure is a small commercial building that is an add-on to the rear of the original fire unit. It appeared to be converted into a living space and sustained significant damage. One male LAFD firefighter was transported in fair condition with non-life threatening burn injuries limited to one arm. Per protocol, LAFD Arson investigators are on scene to conduct a cause investigation. The heavy fire extended up into the attic of the vacant structure. Firefighters defended the exposed buildings from damage. There are no injuries reported. Crews continue to conduct overhaul on all three levels to ensure no smoldering areas remain. Cause and $ loss TBD.
